Centro Community Partners (Centro) is a nonprofit organization that provides entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, access to capital and one-on-one business advisory services to help entrepreneurs start or grow their businesses.

About

Centro Community Partners (Centro) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to build thriving communities by providing underserved, low-to-moderate income (LMI) people with entrepreneurship education, financial literacy, one-on-one business advising, mentorship, and access to capital. Centro empowers underserved women and minority entrepreneurs to be effective business owners, create self-sustaining jobs, and obtain microloans to grow businesses that add to the economic vitality and social vibrancy of their communities. Since 2010, Centro has served over 4,400 entrepreneurs, facilitated access to over $1,330,000 in capital/microloans and provided 10,000+ hours of volunteering one-on-one advising to assist LMI entrepreneurs. Below is a brief description of our programs and services.

Support for Entrepreneurs

Basic Entrepreneurship Program 

This is a 9-week in-class program that teaches women and minority entrepreneurs about basic business functions such as strategy, business finance, market analysis, operations, personal finance, products and services to help them develop a business plan.

Advanced Entrepreneurship Program

This is a 10-week in-class program prepares entrepreneurs to launch and grow their businesses. Entrepreneurs analyze their businesses, create improvement goals and develop and execute action plans, and receive additional support from trained Volunteer Small Business Advisors.

Entrepreneurship Bootcamp

Centro also offers its Basic Entrepreneurship Program in a bootcamp format conducted over 6-8 hours in one day. This program is geared for entrepreneurs who cannot commit to Centro’s 9-week Basic Entrepreneurship Program.

Centro’s Business Planning App

Centro’s Business Planning App is a free mobile (Android/iOS) app that walks entrepreneurs through a series of activities to produce a micro-loan ready business plan. It is offered in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian, and has delivered over 4,400 business plans.


Ecosystem Support

Entrepreneurship Suite

The Entrepreneurship Suite is our all-in-one entrepreneurship methodology and compendium of resources created for business coaches and organizations who lead or want to launch entrepreneurship programs for their constituency. The Entrepreneurship Suite includes lesson plans supported by the Centro Business Planning App, resources for trainers and learning tools for entrepreneurs. Available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. 

Volunteer Small Business Advisor Program

The Volunteer Small Business Advisor Program is a training program for graduate business students who want to acquire hands-on business advisory experience.  The Advisors provide one-on-one advisory support to underserved entrepreneurs.
